Born
about 1812 in what is now Marion County, SC. He married Sarah Martha Phillips, the daughter of Isaac Phillips and
his wife, Alice
“Alsey” Eagerton. The marriage took place between
November 1832 and March 1833. He
died in Caddo Parish
Louisiana
about 1868. His burial site is
unknown. Family reports say he
was a physician, however, on census records he is listed as a farmer. He was the son of Benjamin and Cyrene Garrell Munnerlyn. About 1835 he and his growing family left SC and moved to
Baldwin County
, AL with
his father, mother and all his brothers and sisters, with the exception of
Rachel, who had married James Altman and remained in SC.
Willis
Rawls remained in AL
, until after his father and perhaps his mother died. In the late 1850’s he moved to Caddo Parish, LA where he and his
brother, Thomas C. and John B. all obtained original Land Grants from the
Federal Government. The three
of them had about 1000 acres that bordered the Arkansas-Louisiana line. Children of Willis Rawls and Sarah Martha were:
