Rev. Thomas Mixon Munnerlyn
( 3 Mar 1794 - 28 May 1869)

Thomas Mixon Munnerlyn, born 3 March 1794, Marion County, South Carolina, the son of Loftis Redlee Munnerlyn of the Revolutionary War and Rachel Collins.  Thomas served as a privet under Captain Samuel Bigham's Company of S.C. Militia in the War of 1812, Commanded by Major John Keith.  Thomas became a preacher of the gospel ca. 1818 and built and dedicated several churches in Marion and surrounding counties in his 51 years as a M. E. Minister.  Thomas first married ca. 1820 to Sarah Belin.  Thomas and Sarah had a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth born ca. 1821.  According to the SC Historical Magazine, Vol. 61, Sarah Belin died in 1822.  Thomas's second wife was Mary Avant Kirton, a daughter of Thomas Kirton and a Miss Jones. Thomas & Mary were married 25th of Jul 1827, Marion County, South Carolina.   Thomas died 28 May 1869 at age 75. Thomas also owned land which was farmed. Thomas was buried in a family graveyard on his property that was later plowed under and destroyed in the 1940's.
