Mary C. (Munnerlyn) Moss
(8 Jun 1856 - 24 Nov 1907)

Mary C. Munnerlyn was born in Sabine Co., Texas on 8 June 1856 to Benjamin Holt Munnerlyn, Sr. and Elizabeth S Davis.   Mary was married to Zachary Sampson Moss on 24 November 1874.  Mary died 24 November 1907, she is buried in Attoyac Baptist Cemetery, San Augustine Co., Texas.

The following information is taken from writings of Dr. Horace Williams.  Mary C. Munnerlyn married some time between 1870 and 1880 married Zack Moss.  They lived in Angelina County and it is believed that they were quite well off.  They were parents of seven children, four girls and three boys.  Family tradition is that Mary died while comparatively young.  Zack Moss married a second time and moved to Louisiana.  He and his wife were killed by a shot gun blast as they were eating supper.  Again, tradition is that there was considerable feeling that Moss may have been responsible in some way for Mary's death.  The youngest son of Mary and Zack Moss was charged with and convicted for the killing.  After serving time in the state prison he was pardoned.  Subsequently he sold bank supplies but did not live long.
