John Thomas Munnerlyn, was born in Shelby County, Texas on 7 December, 1904, son of Benjamin Holt Munnerlyn, Jr., and Mary Eugene Miller. John T. played tenor Banjo for a period of time for the East Texas
Serenaders until 1937 when he moved on to the Houston, Texas area. John married Lula D. Head in 1929, Tyler, Smith County, Texas. John was working in Louisiana at the time of his death. He became ill at work and started home. Sitting on a curb to rest, his wife spotted him there and went to him. He told her to take him to a hospital, but he died upon arrival. Cause of death was a heart attack according to his sister Mary Belle. John T. died 28 September 1966 in Louisiana. He was buried in Houston, Harris County, Texas. John and Lula had one daughter.
