Harcourt Lee Munnerlyn was born in South Carolina on October 13, 1866 to Rev. Thomas Wesley Munnerlyn and Ann Elizabeth Weeks. In a letter dated Aug., 8, 1892 from his brother James Thomas, to his cousin Benjamin Holt Munnerlyn, it is mentioned that James' brother "Dick" was away in Montana. Later it was seen from the 1900 census that Harcourt was in jail in Robertson County, Texas. Shortly after this, Harcourt married in Sumter Co., S.C. to Maggie L. Bradford on the 1st of March 1903. Harcourt and Maggie had at least two children, Herbert Lee: b. ca. 1905 - d. 1968 & Lee Jackson: b. 16 Oct. 1909 - d. 15 Jul. 1988. Harcourt's first wife, Mattie died on January 30th, 1915 at her home in Mt. Croghan, Chesterfield Co., S.C., buried in Smith Graveyard, Ruby, Chesterfield Co., S.C. Harcourt married second to a Miss. Lula J. Crawley about 1916. He died on May 6, 1922 in S.C. and is buried in Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Cheraw Co., SC.
